Additional Support for Learning – report to Parliament on implementation
This year’s report is the first time that information on young carers has been collected and reveals that around 400 young carers received support...
The Scottish Government wants all of Scotland’s children and young people to have the skills and capacities to take full advantage of the opportunities they have in life and work, whatever their starting point or ambitions.
The Government has recently worked with a group of Headteachers, Education Scotland and the Association of Directors of Education (ADES) to look at raising attainment and improving outcomes for all young people in Scotland. As a result of this work advice for teachers has been produced, which has been sent out in the GTCS ‘Teaching Scotland’ magazine to every teacher in Scotland.
Drawn from practical experience and known success, the areas identified are intended to be a starting point for reflection and the beginning of a process of discussion. In the coming months we will jointly be giving teachers, schools, parents/carers and others the opportunity to feed into this work and share their experiences of what works to raise attainment, as well as highlighting useful resources.
As an individual you can register your interest for updates on the Raising Attainment work. If you work for or represent an organisation that would like to be involved or support this work, get in touch.
